Pennsylvania State Officials Look Into E-Bike Regulations On State Parks
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources proposed new regulations and guidelines in July for e-bike usage on state trails and forest land.
The DCNR proposed allowing the use of e-bikes on trails open to traditional bicycle usage provided an e-bike weighs no more than 100 pounds, does not exceed 20 mph, has a motor under 750 watts, and has fully functional pedals. If implemented the proposal will apply to all Department of Conservation trails where bikes are allowed.
The proposal also places restrictions on state forest roads such as natural areas, designated hiking trails, and any trail specifically marked as closed to bikes.
The proposal does not apply to federal lands in the state.
